Meeting HPPD with harm reduction

Meeting HPPD with harm reduction: post-drug perceptual change and the problem of flashbacks.

Under-researched, little-understood - and maybe more common than you think - Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) stands as a significant psychedelic risk as treatments scale and hype abounds. How should researchers and users make sense of it to ensure harm is reduced?

Ed Prideaux is a Brighton-based MSc Psychology student, writer and journalist staging research and raising awareness into HPPD and post-drug perceptual changes. He seeks to bridge HPPD patient groups with the psychedelic community through advocacy for the Perception Restoration Foundation. He has written about psychedelics for the BBC, VICE, Unherd, and The Independent, and published pieces on music, history and psychology for The Guardian, The Spectator, The Quietus, The Financial Times, and others.
