UCL’s Society for the Application of Psychedelics (SAP) is a student-led non-profit society, promoting investigation into the interaction between psychedelic drugs and biological, sociological, and conjectural systems.
We are a society committed to communicating the potential clinical and scientific applications of psychedelics. We believe that their notoriety and controversy should not stand in the way of the evidence supporting that these may be highly effective treatments for mental illness and palliative care in the terminally ill – among many other potential uses.
We see psychedelics as a nexus where neuropharmacology and biology meet psychological explanations of the mind and the subconscious.
Here at SAP, we believe that a fully-fledged transdisciplinary investigation of psychedelic drugs - that deploys both prevailing and pioneering methods of inquiry - is an urgent task for humanity.
We welcome everyone, from the inconspicuous observer to the fervent orator, and run a range of events such as a regular journal club, discourse circles, guest lectures and panel discussions that aim to utilise every academic apparatus, from neuropsychopharmacology to antipositivist anthropology.
